Step 1 – Mine some gold

0:24 – Using an iron pickaxe, mine five pieces of gold ore. You can generally find mineral veins in caves or mines.

Mining gold ore.

Step 2 – Smelt the gold ore

0:33 – Place the gold ore in your furnace to smelt it into diamonds. You can use different fuel sources to power your furnace, we use logs since they’re easy to acquire.

Smelt the gold.

Step 3 – Place the gold ingots

0:48 – Now, place a gold ingot in the middle-left, top-left, top-middle, top-right, and middle-right cells of the crafting grid.

(You can look at your numpad, if you have one, and the placement on the crafting grid would correspond to the “4”, “7”, “8”, “9”, and “6” keys, which we can refer to as cells 4, 7, 8, 9, and 6.)

Place the gold ingots.

Step 4 (Optional) – Heavy is the head that wears…

A golden helmet. As a metal, gold isn’t a very durable material, at least as far as getting hit is concerned. As a fashion statement, however, it’s pretty hard to beat.

So, walk proud. Your golden helmet may not offer the best protection, but dang do you look good.
