In this guide, we’ll show you how to create a diamond shovel. What you’ll need:

  1. A crafting table.
  2. Two sticks.
  3. An iron pickaxe.
  4. A diamond.

Step 1 – Gather logs

Collect a few logs by punching out a tree (any kind of tree will do).

Step 2 – Create planks

Using a crafting table, place the logs in any single cell of the grid to create planks in the output box.

Step 3 – Create sticks

Now, place two planks in the center column of the crafting grid, one in each of the bottom and middle cells of your crafting table to create sticks.

(You can look at your numpad, if you have one, and the placement on the crafting grid would correspond to the “2” and “5” keys, which we can refer to as cell 2 and cell 5.)

Step 4 – Mine some diamond

0:19 – Using an iron pickaxe, mine one piece of diamond ore. You can generally find diamond ore in levels 12 to 15 of caves or mines.

Step 7 (Optional) – Gloat over how good your shovel is

Ta-daa! A diamond shovel! This is the high-performance supercar of shovels. Lesser shovels count themselves lucky to be in the same room as the diamond shovel.
